A large family, mid-journey
We're a big homeschooling family: as of the summer of 2026, two of our kids are stepping into their post-high-school journey, with more queued up behind them. That gives us a strong incentive to figure this out well, and many more chances to use what we learn.
We didn't want our kids graduating buried in debt, especially since some of them are likely headed toward callings like ministry that aren't known for big paychecks. At the same time, we wanted them to get the real skills and training they need, and we've never assumed that has to mean a four-year college degree. For some of our children it might; for others, an apprenticeship, a trade, or a certificate could be exactly right. The goal isn't a particular diploma. It's each kid, well prepared, without a mountain of debt.
Along the way we stumbled onto a handful of tools and approaches that genuinely helped: free and low-cost college credit, homeschool-friendly transcript practices, and a few programs most families never hear about. This site is simply our way of sharing those findings with others who might be standing where we were.
In the words of comedian Dustin Anderson, "I hope this helps."
